Feeling like Flowers

FAD 2 n3 1 pm

Hello Readers!

This is likely my last possible reminder for you that the second round of the FAD Event is about to be done! I was having a delightful chat with Jude Tatham (the event organizer) where she reminded me this round will close up on July 25th. So that means there isn’t much time left to have a look at all the creative designs this round’s creators have in store for you.

I have been on a mesh body kick lately and as I have said before, I was a long time Physique user and recently acquired a Maitreya, and I haven’t taken it off!  Well maybe once for an outfit I couldn’t make work on the Maitreya, but I have to say that is getting to be more rare than it used to be. I finally joined the Maitreya camp when I was in a show for L’Amour as they have recently launched a curvy model division and I knew I had to be a part of that. I was to model in a curvier form, but the designs were surprisingly not made for the Physique. I say surprisingly because I had pretty much encountered most designers do make Slink compatible designs. In this case I took it as a sign that I needed to stop riding the Maitreya fence and just do it. I did and was thrilled until I found my skin tone is so old… (how old is it??) that Deesses no longer makes it. I pouted for about a minute then adopted another skin from Natalie’s store that was -close- to the Silly I know and love. It was alright, but then like a week later Natalie must have read my mind (or a lot of customers got after her lol) and my skin was updated in the new shades! Since then I have barely taken my Maitreya off and always try outfits with it on first to see if it will work (if they don’t already come with a Maitreya size).

Ok so, back to the point of my post. The FAD Event round 2 is nearly over! Being that I rarely take off the fuller, updated, mesh me I found that the Alena Bow Dress by [FLRN] fit quite nicely over my mesh body and I wasn’t even wearing the fitted mesh option. I am actually wearing the medium with some alphas turned off and I really liked the fit. My close friends know I am not a ‘bow’ person, but this dress is just sooo cute and well textured I got over my bow issues. It comes with a HUD (I have said how much I love HUDs right?) that make it a bunch of dresses in one. I had a hard time choosing, but in the end this flower pattern won out.

I had to pick up this great hair from Truth called “Lucrecia.” I had to have it for its perfect flower headband and the carefree feeling it added to the look. I added some accessories from MUKA and the latest from Glamistry of course. They have their Ramonda Heels out in a new version for Kustom9, PRINTS! I couldn’t wear any with this look as the animal prints didn’t go with my flower look, but I wore them anyway for their awesome HUDtasticness. Glamistry really goes with EVERYTHING. 😀

I am of course using some more awesomeness from KaTink. The background is Fresh Air 9 and I used the Andrea 5 & 8 poses from the new release available at Sneak Peek.

I love when items that fit on my Physique are offered and when I opened the FAD offering from Zibska I found just that! She included a fitmesh version of her hud controled flirty romper called “Tina.” There is a subtle shimmer texture on the romper that really calls for a closer look, and really adds to that fun summer feel. I added a necklace from FAD by Secret Love called “Ribbons and Pearls” as well as some delicious hair called ” Pony Shades” from Ashmoot. Oh, and there are the fun sugar coated nail polishes from Pumby, also available at The FAD Event. I of course had to add the latest from Glamistry…a flat sandal called “Columbine.”

More of Me

nude_edited_pm

Hello Readers!

There is so much amazing fashion to be had on the grid that it is rare when I just get to blog my thoughts. This is about to be one of those posts.

As I shop various events (And man are there more and more of them everyday that it is hard to keep up! My favorites bar will soon be MAXED…though now I wonder if it has a limit or if I can start a second row…lol) I am finding there are more and more things available for the various mesh bodies which I enjoy seeing. I have had a Physique for a long time and love it though I am sure I will likely be purchasing a Maitreya mesh body as the sliders provide different results.

The lack of good mesh clothing for the amazing mesh bodies that are available is the main reason why I have not worn my mesh body more often and I am sure I am not alone in that. Appliers are alright, but I prefer them for tattoos…like the one from White Widow I am wearing in the above photo. Clothing appliers on mesh bodies is just too ‘system layer’ for me. I love when designers offer a fitted mesh option of their clothing at the very least, if not items specifically rigged to fit the specific bodies. I always appreciate that effort and will certainly frequent that designer more in the future (like Blueberry for example).

So why am I hung up on this? Well as a model in SL we are held to a certain standard when it comes to our size, which is no different than a model in RL.  I got used to being long and skinny and all my model friends are long and skinny too so it wasn’t anything unusual or obvious, until I tried to sit in a chair or go shopping with the masses. I often won’t sit at all because I can’t stand my feet going into the ground or my body parts being contorted in strange ways. I know this is a matter of preference, so I am not complaining at all. My avi doesn’t need to sit anyway, she never gets tired. What was surprising to me is how much tall teasing goes on from other residents. I have been insulted more than once as I mind my own business teleporting store to store by other residents who are child sized or some other form, and it is just amazing to me that people would be so bothered by someone tall that they have to make a comment. This behavior from others doesn’t ruin my day, I just shake my head and ignore it, more interested in shopping than engaging with someone who would be so rude. Besides, I am proud to be a part of the organizations in my profile and I take that seriously, I do not want to be provoked into bad behavior.

All of that being said, I do enjoy being tall but I also enjoy being curvy. With the system body there is no room for many curves when your avi is that stretched out. That is where the mesh bodies are particularly helpful. They can give you curves that the SL body can’t. In order to achieve the curves in my photos here, I merely had to bring my sliders down in a few key areas and I was still able to retain some of the model height I enjoy. After so many years spent tall and skinny (though I did try to be as curvy as a small would allow me to be…I always tried to be the ‘thickest’ skinny girl on the runway), and more options for the mesh bodies, I am spending more time being curvy and loving it.

On top of all that, June 14th was National Puerto Rican Day celebrated with a massive parade in on 5th Avenue in New York City. I was so gripped with Puerto Rican pride I had my own celebration! I broke out my corny prim flag, got some cool salsa moves and made my first machinima! It is nothing fancy, but I was pleased with the result, and am encouraged to try my hand at more of it.

In closing, VISIONAIRE Institute had its 3rd graduation this weekend and my congratulations go out to all of the graduates! At the party on the iMoogi sim where VISIONAIRE HQ is I learned of a fun concept called Made to Model, which is an SL Reality TV show much like America’s Next Top Model (which I watch religiously). At first I figured I couldn’t do it as I am not a new model and have accomplished much of what I had set out for myself to do as a virtual model. However, I was encouraged by others to try my hand at it and I am. I encourage others to sign on for it as it sounds like a fun experience for sure. I know there have been other shows like it in SL before (so I have been told), but I have never seen them nor have I ever been on one so being the curious silly person I am, I signed on asap!  Do have a look if you are interested, and maybe slip me a vote if you are so inclined? 😉

LOTD # 3

Hello Readers!

I have had the Slink Physique mesh body for a little while, but didn’t feel I could do much with it as there isn’t a whole available for it at the moment, though that is rapidly changing. Being a model in SL I adhere to the industry standard of glamazon proportions, which I understand and embrace.  It is rather amusing to me when I go out shopping with friends how I tower over them. However, I did find myself wanting to be more “normal” when I am out and about on the grid. I felt that Slink’s Physique would help me capture that and still look like “me” thanks to Natalie Wells of Deesses coming out with Physique appliers recently.

Beyonce

I have not adjusted my shape in a long time apart from minor fine tuning here and there, so to throw all the modeling standards to the wind and just make a shape for myself that I found realistic and appealing was rather enjoyable.  I personally find much beauty in a thicker frame, so apart from shortening overall height, torso and limbs, I also put a lil meat on her bones!  I loved the final result and I think the Physique makes curves look lovely! I look forward to blogging more with my Physique…I hear Artizana is coming out with some hot new Physique outfits and I can’t wait!
