New Year, New Me

Hello Readers!

It has been quite some time. I am sure you have seen blogs go from active to inactive and anywhere in between. I was never a truly prolific blogger, I don’t always have something to say or anything newsworthy to share. I am just a resident enjoying her SecondLife and who happens to like to blog about it sometimes. I recently celebrated my Rez Day…9 years in SL! I wanted to do a post, but the stars did not align right for that. I have spent half of my 9 years in SL exploring and learning how to role play, then I spent the second half of those 9 years breaking into the SL modeling scene. I am very comfortable with both and enjoy both sides of my SL to this day. I do feel the familiar urge to do something new with my SL, perhaps I get that urge every 4 years or so…who knows.

What has captured my interest of late is all chatter about Bento. If you don’t know what I am talking about you will have to visit Strawberry Singh’s blog because as always, she does an excellent job explaining things. Between her and Wicca Merlin, I got a crash course in Bento. As a model in SL your brand is important. Your uniqueness is your brand, which includes your face. It was this line of thinking that kept me from getting on the mesh head bandwagon. There was little way to modify them beyond skin and I just couldn’t accept that as me. I was very impressed with my fellow models who were able to work skins and layers to their advantage and make their own unique face, but I still figured anything I would do would still not give me my own unique face so I held off.

Now that Bento has arrived and I watched my dear friend Wicca (my mesh head queen) work various heads (Bento and not) and share her experiences with me. I felt confident after a few conversations and screen shares with Wicca to dive in and give making my own unique face with a Bento head a go. I was so excited to use a Bento head that I went for the Bento hands too! Both were just the refresh I needed. While I love my avatar, I knew it was time to give her a make over, which can be both time consuming and frustrating. Not this time! I have a new Bento me now and am very pleased with the results. Just like when I finally found Silly’s face (that she has had for 3ish years), I felt that same feeling once I had the right skin on and had tweaked the sliders to my liking. I know this is likely not the final look for the new Bento Silly, but I am very pleased with her beginnings!

I love that I can smile now! I smile so much in RL and I am called Silly for a reason in SL so there is bound to be smiles and laughing when I am around!

I have some other things in mind for my SL in 2017, and I hope to be back with another post soon to talk all about that!

Thanks for continuing to read!

There are so many amazing designers who are a part of this event. There is no way I can possibly blog them all, so that means you had better mark your calendar and come see them all at SCALA’s FREAKSHOW-Carnivale!

When I saw the offerings for Ghee I thought their Fortune Teller outfit was rather nice, little did I know it came with a crystal ball you can hold as well as a fortune teller booth! Fortune Teller appealed to the gypsy in me and the added bonus of the accessories just appealed to the silly in me.  LOVE the whole ensemble. The mesh is very nicely done and detailed. Oh, and the crystal ball and fortune telling booth actually give fortunes! You will be the life of the Halloween Party in this outfit from Ghee!

Fortune Teller fits the classic SL avatar, has FitMesh options, and sizes for SLink, Belleza and Maitreya. The corset, skirt and sleeves are all separate so you can surely mix this up with other items from your inventory to make it anything you like. It also comes with 3 headscarves that are not photographed because this hair from Truth (Solstice) just went so nicely with it!

Hi my name is…

melinda-v2

Hello Readers!

I have been wanting to blog this romper for some time now (it was at the last round of On9 and is now in store), as it has quickly become my new favorite romper. (I ♥ ROMPERS) Of course it is by Wicca’s Wardrobe and is called Melinda. (My RL name is rather close to Melinda so that made me smile.) Melinda fits all the most popular mesh bodies which is a huge plus for me as my alts wear Belleza and there is so little of the good stuff for Belleza in comparison. The pose I am striking is from one of my favorite pose makers, THE Linda Reddevil of Devilish Poses. She has three new sets out and the pose I am using is 1-52. I have been living on the Elysion sim lately since giving up my own land due to limited SL time. Elysion is a lovely sim. I could never simscape as nicely as they do there. I enjoy finding new places to stand as I style and work on notecards, so it was only natural that I would feature this wonderful sim as my backdrop.

Hello Readers!

I am often invited to judge Mr. & Miss Virtual World challenges…and that is not a brag or anything, just something I enjoy doing. As a model who had put herself out there to be judged by others on many occasions, I feel my experiences make me qualified to fairly judge others who are putting themselves out there in competitions. I am always flattered to be asked and always look forward to going. I take care in making sure I am presentable. As a former Miss, I firmly believe I have a standard to uphold. So when looking for something of quality to wear, it is no surprise that I default to Wicca’s Wardrobe. As any who know me or read my blog at all, Wicca is a longtime friend of mine and while we have not made an official SL relationship out of it, I consider her a sister. She and her man Red made my country costume when I was competing in 2015 and I LOVED it. So Wicca and MVW still go hand in hand for me. Besides, while Wicca has no “Face of Wicca’s Wardrobe” or anything, I know I am the Wicca’s Wardrobe Runway Princess! One of the other things I enjoy about judging MVW events is seeing friends that I don’t always see…like Pam Astonia! Pammy cracks me up and is just so talented and lovely…chatting with her is always a perk of judging!

The photo above was my look for the 2nd and final auditions of this round of Miss Virtual World 2017 and here are the details:

Hello Readers!

Happy 2016 to each of you! I know the time for happy new year tidings is passed, but I felt the need to say it given this is my first post of 2016. It is not often for me that a new year actually bring a lot of new with it, but 2016 is that year. I am on a new and exciting professional adventure in RL, one that demands a lot of my time. However, I still find a time and place for SL. It has become such a huge part of my life…for all the friendships I have made, the activities I enjoy, and the creative outlet it has demonstrated itself to be.

So I have a bit of fashion to share with you. Just a few things I have enjoyed wearing around the grid and felt FAB in:
