Colour of Couture…the Journey Continues!

Hello Readers!

RL & SL have certainly kept me busy of late!  I am back though and wanted to share another reason my blog posts haven’t been coming as frequently…it is a very good reason actually.  I am enjoying being a contestant in Colour of Couture.  Styling challenges are something I have enjoyed since my very first modeling classes.  Today I am sharing with you two of my most recent Color of Couture stylings.

The first was for Earth Hour an event hosted by Amazing Impressions Modeling agency that spotlighted the need for all of us all to be united in protecting our planet.

Earth Hour - Silly Avro - cropped

I was fortunate to be selected as one of 60 models to have an Earth Hour inspired look taken by the talented Marcopol Oh.  I am wearing “Earth” by Boudoir and “Oceane” by {MUA}. (above)

CoC Cosmo

Colour of Couture gave us the challenge of styling in the theme of cosmo couture, highlighting green and blues, and considering Earth Hour.  It was a very tricky challenge, and after doing my research on cosmo couture I arrived at the genre had to do with designing looks with unconventional materials…and quite often building and interior design materials.  So once I understood that, I began putting together my look.  I fell in love with these bits of crashed satellite I acquired from The Grim Bros., I visited one of my favorites (Chrysalis) for the one legged jumpsuit, added some hosiery from Erratic, fun hair from Ploom, sexy make up from Nuuna (neck) and {MUA} (full face).  My arm bands are recent releases from my SL Mom’s store On A Lark, my necklace a former Collabor88 item from Yummy, and the colorful bracelets were a Fifty Linden Friday find from Erratic. Oh and I can’t forget the awesome claw boots from Wicca’s Wardrobe.  I was just looking for a reason to wear them and this seemed it!

Silly Baroque

Our most recent challenge was to style inspired by Thom Browne. I had a good deal of fun with this one.  I have never been asked to style baroque before (or cosmo couture for that matter) so it was an exciting thing to dig into.  After doing my research, I found that Thom Browne uses a variety of materials in his designs, one of the most notable rubber/latex.  I used a Graves latex catsuit as a base and built from there.  I knew once again Collabor88 would be my best friend, providing just the right pair of heeled Oxfords.  I added a cute pair of slink enabled socks, and for a pop of color a sexy red skirt from The Plastik.  When it came to the baroque part I looked around a bit, one of my frequent stops being Bare Rose.  The white skirt, corset, and top came from there, I added a fun HUD driven cameo and set the image to “death”, added some hair I found at The Big Show by Little Bones (who are new to me…I love when that happens).  My make up is a combination of {MUA}, The Plastik, and Buzz Essentials. I added a fun lil Dia De Los Muertes black rose…complete with skull, thorns, spiders, and webs as a personal reference to the Latina in me, and added cobwebs to my hair.  I couldn’t resist Remarkable Oblivion’s cat purse to bring a bit more crazy to my Thom Browne inspired baroque.

So there you have it.  A bit of why I have been so quiet on my blog, but I don’t intend for that to always be the case. I enjoy blogging and will continue to share the latest and greatest from the designers who have taken me on as well as things I find around the grid I think you might enjoy.

Thank you for reading!

I’m Back!

Hello Readers!

I have missed you!  It has been a whole SIX DAYS since I blogged last!  I know for some bloggers that isn’t much, but I rather enjoyed blogging every few days…blogging is one of my creative outlets.  And lets not forget to mention all the blogger goodies from my sponsors that I am itching to share with you!

I was insanely busy with the Style Kingdom Magazine final casting and writing scripts for the AVENUE Autumn/Winter Fashion Week 2013.  I hope you all are taking in the amazing shows of AVENUE Fashion Week…and hitting that retail gallery.  It has stunning styles for residents of all kinds.

On to the final results of the Style Kingdom Magazine casting.  I am happy to say that I made a strong showing overall, but in the end it wasn’t enough to place in the top three.  Needless to say I was disappointed, but such is SL modeling.  You can’t win them all, and there will be disappointments along the way, but there will also be triumphs. I am thrilled to have the experience and enjoyed meeting the judges.  There will be another casting later in the year, and I’ve decided I will have another go.

The final challenge was Futuristic Avant Garde and this one really challenged me.  I had three different looks put together, but I will only show you the last two, the first one was way too crazy for me to post a photo of. *laughs*

After Googling images of Futuristic Avant Garde fashion I felt my styling mimicked what I saw. In the end the other contestants had a bit more going on than I did and made me recognize that I may play it safe more than I would like.  I need to push the envelope a bit and not go completely off the deep end.

Please visit my new SLurls page for all the links to the items credited. As always, thank you for reading.  If you would like to see the full results of the casting, click here.
