New Horizons

Hello Readers!

I have been aching to blog so much more than I have of late, but there is only so much time in the day!  RL & SL have gotten very demanding, but I did that to myself and I enjoy the things I am involved in in both worlds.

This weekend was a big one for me.  Not only did I have Colour of Couture’s Charity Challenge, I had SCALA Models Academy graduation which was SCALA’s first official production.  I was thrilled not only to be invited to be a model for SCALA, but asked to be a part of the staff and the graduation show contained a bit of my work as a script writer, as well as that of my very talented sis Liat Reina.  My congratulations go out to all the talented new SCALA graduates!  I so enjoyed watching them tear up the runway! Then there was the VISIONAIRE Graduation Exhibit, which was the culmination of my SL photography classes.  I cannot say enough how unique an experience this was, and how much it helped me to grow as an SL photographer.  I still have a lot to learn, but what I can do now, as compared to before VISIONAIRE, is simply incredible to me. Learning from Nariko and Wren was amazing, and the other VISIONAIRE trainees were so very supportive and inspiring.  I have really experienced nothing else quite like it in SL.

Silly's CoC Practice

The photo above comes courtesy of my sweet sis Liat.  Words cannot express the extent of my feelings for her. She was a wonderful audience for me as I practiced for the Charity Challenge and gave me much constructive criticism and feedback.

The gist of the challenge was to propose a charity event that I would make a reality if selected to be Miss Colour of Couture.  For me, the choice of charities was simple, Guide Dogs of America (GDA). I have been involved with GDA for several years and have served as a volunteer puppy raiser, raising three wonderful dogs for them.  There is something about the amazing ways animals can help us and those with disabilities that touch me deeply.  As I prepared for this challenge I realized that my charity might be a bit too regional to appeal to the very global community of Second Life.  So I did a bit of research and discovered Assistance Dogs International (ADI), a coalition of non-profit assistance and service dog organizations that hail from around the globe.  I was thrilled to learn the GDA was a part of this coalition.  So my proposal was for a charity event in SL that would benefit ADI and in turn all of its member organizations.

In case you are interested in the text on Liat’s photo, there is an ongoing joke amongst the CoC candidates that stems from my inability to type “high-5” as “^5.”  Apparently I have an aversion to hitting those keys right and my ^5 comes out 6%. *laughs*  I love it when the CoC candidates 6% each other.  It really makes me smile and gives me a good laugh.  That just doesn’t get old.  I can’t speak highly enough about the other candidates.  They are a fine group of ladies and I am so very pleased to be competing with them.

I can’t post a photo and not credit it if I am able. In Liat’s photo my outfit is called “Don’t Hold Your Breath” from Liv Glam and was a part of the recent Style Icon Fashion Fair. My hair is from Tram, and shoes were “Maggie” a heel available for Fifty Linden Fridays for Slink High Feet by .fri.  My dog is Manticore and the slide projector and screen are by Seven Emporium.  I LOVE this slide projector and I was sooooo excited to do an actual slide show in SL.  It has been AGES since I had done one and I had soooo much fun making the slides for it.

Immediately following my Charity Challenge was SCALA Model’s Academy’s graduation.  Congratulations to Danity Mynx, Trouble Dethly, Winter Zhukovsky, LolaPandora, LuceMia, Deborah Vos, Leezah Kaddour, Sungyoung, Zoomy Bluebird, Christopher Law, Aely White, AliceAmber, and PetraAlexander!

As a part of my final for VISIONAIRE I was tasked with photographing two of the SCALA trainees.

Danity Profile

I first met Danity Mynx as a Glam Girl contestant for Liv Glam.  I thought her styling for that contest was fun and creative and I had to get to know her.  We have been friends ever since and I was thrilled to be assigned to take her photograph.

Trouble Profile

Trouble Dethly I recall seeing at the 2nd public casting for Style Kingdom Magazine.  He stood out to me mainly because of his name.  Like my own avi name I found it amusing.  I didn’t say anything to him then primarily because I didn’t want it to appear I was hitting on him or flirting in some way.  I was pleased to get to know him better since and know that he doesn’t consider me a scary stranger anymore. *chuckles*

Please visit my Flickr to see the rest of the photos I took of these very special and talented models.

VISIONAIRE GRADUATE EXHIBITION

Lastly there is the VISIONAIRE graduate exhibition.  I have never taken so many photos in such a short time as I did with this final!  I LOVED it though and truly enjoyed setting up a gallery to exhibit my work.  I still cannot believe that it is over and that Nariko and Wren consider me a colleague instead of a student.  I was honored from the start that even without photography experience Nariko would have me as the VISIONAIRE manager, assisting her and Wren with managing the institute and its students.

Sophie Profile

The above is my version of Sophie.  The shape was one given to all of us…the exact same no modify shape.  We could then do with it what we would.  I put on a beautiful skin by Izara Zutka of 7 Deadly S{k}ins called Tina B3b and told my story of Sophie. I wanted to tell a tragic love story, and the story that emerged was loosely based on Dante’s Divine Comedy and the story of Francesca and Paolo. If you visit my gallery you will see a sign at the entry that gives out some bonus information.  I also have a guest book, so please do sign it.

The jewelry in the photo is Polly by Mandala, the gown is Free Romance – Frozen by Living Imagination, the hair is Amita by EMO-tions, the eyes are IKON Eternal Eyes in Hazel, and the makeup is Wrath M1 DEF by 7 Deadly S{k}ins.

There are currently two exhibitions.  One is on the same sim as the SCALA graduation, and the other is on the SCALA/Visionaire home land.  You can see the press release and get SLurls to both if you visit Nariko’s blog post.

So I think I have caught you up on the latest.  Oh, there is one more thing! Coming up this Saturday, April 19th at 1pm SLT is SCALA’s 2nd production…a LivGlam fashion show and it is my first time serving as a producer, so I am very excited!  More info to come on that show very soon, but do mark your calendars!

Skin Fair and More!

Hello Readers!

I am back with some more Skin Fair fabulousness.  No sooner had I made my previous Skin Fair post when a new arrival from 7 Deadly S{k}ins was delivered and they are wonderful!

I rather enjoy transforming myself in various ways in Second Life.  Could be my role play past, or the simple fact that we can be anything we like in SL.  As you may know I have been working on my SL photography skills as well as learning PhotoShop for the first time.  I know there are some amazing things you can do with PS if you have the time and the inclination.  I felt like toying around some and wanted to capture a few renditions of me in one photo like I have seen others do.  So the image below was the result.  I know it isn’t perfect, but it is much more than I could have even dreamed of attempting only a few short months ago.  I credit Nariko Okawa and WrenNoir Cerise with giving me the information and the courage to attempt this.  I cannot praise them and VISIONAIRE enough.  It is time well spent, and is helping me to become something else I thought I couldn’t be…an artist.

me meyself and I

I will be breaking down the details of what was worn on each avi below, but items not represented in other photos beyond the above are:

On Sammael:
shirt > Delirum Style by Christel Morane – Male T-Shirt
pants > Delirum Style by Christel Morane – Male Pants
shoes > Blackburns Boots & Shoes by Vlad Blackburn – Sneak Black
prop > / XIAJ x ZZANG / Red String of Fate 07 @ L’Accessories Gacha Event

Now let me take the photo apart some and show you a clearer image of the items I chose to include.  First off I want to share with you the two lovely new skins 7 Deadly S{k}ins is bringing to the Skin Fair table.

Here we have the latest from 7 Deadly S{k}ins.  The skin I am wearing is “WRATH B4b T2” and I am also wearing one of Izara’s shapes, similarly called “WRATH.” If you are not already familiar with Izara’s work, her skins come in a wide array of options, along with every applier you can think of…Slink, Phat/Cute Azz, Loud Mouth, and Lolas.  For the Skin Fair not only is she offering this wonderful skin, she is offering a few make-ups as well.  I rather enjoyed the fresh-faced look, so I am wearing the make up called “Wrath M2 DEF.”  Since it is Arcade season, I topped off the look with  a new hair from Exile called “Shine.”  This one is from the pastel pack and available at this round of The Arcade. Oh, and let’s not forget my eyes.  As they have been pretty much all the time of late, they are IKON and these in particular are “Eternal Eyes – Hazel.”

Here we have the latest in the 7 Deadly S{k}ins male skin line, Sammael.  I am wearing the Sammael shape along with the “B3T2” version of the Sammael skin. I have added /Wasabi Pills/ Dylan Mesh Hair – Black coffee and of course IKON ‘Sunrise’ Eyes – Celtic Green.  Handsome isn’t he?  Sammael and Wrath will both be available at the upcoming Skin Fair.  It opens March 14th.

Up next we have some newness from my SL Mom Discovering Destiny from On A Lark. Her most recent release is called “Nani” and I am wearing it in Sunset. I have also added another recent release of Lark’s, the Crysantha Arm Cuffs.  A better look at them can be found in my slideshow at the end of this post.

oal nani_front

Next we have me in my usual appearance with skin by Natalie Wells of Deesses.  I have donned another recent release from Lark called “Helena.” It made me think angel, so that is what I ran with adding some wings from the past round of the Fantasy Gacha Carnival by Una Daxter called “SteamPunk Wings Down.”

Helena Angel

I loved getting to pull out this older hair by Truth (from pre-mesh days)!  I have wanted to use it in a styling forever and finally had my chance!  It is called Tahnee in coffee.  I also have on the Helena collar and bangles by On A Lark.  The Helena gown comes in a few colors, a sample of which can be found in the slideshow below.

Thank you for getting through a rather wordy post of mine.  I have so much more to share and I am avoiding this paper I have to write. I guess I have put it off long enough.  Happy shopping and thanks for reading!

Happy Holidays

Hello Readers!

I am already back with another one!  This time I have something really exciting from 7 Deadly S{k}ins and Legal Insanity!  As many blog readers know, some SL bloggers blog both male and female items, while others prefer to stick to one gender.  I have found it really is a matter of preference, and seeing as how I enjoy a challenge, I thought I would take the recent release of 7 Deadly S{k}ins first male skin called Judas as the impetus to explore my masculine side!

7DS LI_farI proudly present my male alter ego “Silvester!”  I had fun making him.  I am no stranger to a male alt, but I have never made the shape based off the standard SL one.  I had always been one to buy a shape that looked good to me on the whole and then tweak it to suit my liking.  My history with male shaping has been horrid, but thankfully due to all the shape tweaking I have had to do as an SL model, this go around as a male wasn’t too bad if I do say so myself.

I have to mention the “Holiday Rustic Gazebo Set A” Silvester is standing near by StoraxTree.  I had the pleasure of chatting with Kate McLaglen of StoraxTree a lil while back, just before I did a major overhaul on my homestead.  She was kind enough to send me some home items to decorate with.  Changing things up and settling in has been a much slower process than I would have liked, as I am often consumed with styling my avatar versus my new home.  As my SL settles down some I am enjoying going through all the lovely things Kate has sent since via her blogger packs and  I will certainly get more of her items blogged.  I just wanted to offer a small sampling of the many wonderful items Kate creates for home decor.  She has made some wonderful items for the holiday season and I encourage you to stop by her store and check them out.

Then we have the sexy and festive clothing from Legal Insanity!  I had fun decking out Silvester in Datrip’s cool clothing and I look forward do doing more of that in the future.

In the above shot Silvester is wearing:

skin > Deadly s{K}ins – JUDAS v1

cap > Legal Insanity – ascot flat cap tartan

sweater > Legal Insanity – Merry Xmas sweater for guys *group gift*

pants > Legal Insanity – byron loose pants – tartan green

necklace > .:EMO-tions:. * ULTRA * necklace *group gift*

7DS LI_closeI love Izara’s new Judas skin.  It is sexy and well done and the notched eyebrow is certainly getting a favorable reception.  This skin comes with options for facial hair and I chose the one with more.  Judas in Legal Insanity is certainly a hit for me!  I am eager to see what further male hotness Izara will produce.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers a very happy holiday.  I hope it is full of things that make you smile!

Thank you for reading.  As always please visit my SLurls page for your shopping needs.
