The Fantasy Gacha Carnival is coming!

Fantasy Gacha Carnival Halloween

Hello readers!

I was thrilled to be asked to blog for the Fantasy Gacha Carnival that opens October 1, 2013 and runs through October 31, 2013.  Getting all the wonderful items from the designers makes it feel like Christmas … or should I say Halloween … every day!

I wish I could have worn all the amazing items I have received thus far, but that would have made for a rather odd looking photo. I am planning on more Fantasy Gacha Carnival posts, so I know I have more opportunities to style with the rest of the impressive gacha goodies.  In the photo above I am wearing a new release from On A Lark (not a gacha item) called “Asta” * in berry.  Available in the wide array of colors Lark always offers on all her designs, Asta has a few different ways to wear it, as well as a matching necklace and belt in two options.

FGC_002(All of the items listed below are available at the Carnival, except for the hair.)

Headpiece > .:GSpot:. Ghaaliyas Headpiece Gold/Brown ULTRA RARE *

Skin > .la petite morte. quinn t3b bare CL RARE *

Eyes > .la petite morte. intensity eyes-rare 5 *

Necklace > [tea.s] Celestial Necklace – v2 – RARE *

Hair > [LeLutka]-BLAKE hair – BlondeFun

I am sure you have noticed that not all skins may look right on your shape, and when I saw that La Petite Morte had skins as their gacha I crossed my fingers that it would look good on my normal shape.  As you can see from the above photo, it does! I tend to favor darker tones of skin, so I chose “Quinn t3b.”  All of the skins offered by La Petite Morte are without eyebrows, which I don’t mind at all.  That is too often not an option on other skins, so when it is an option on a skin I value it.  When it comes to skin and eyes I am very slow to change, but since becoming a blogger I rather enjoy experimenting in these two areas I tend to avoid.  I really enjoyed the unique new look La Petite Morte’s skin gave me, and their eyes were just as enjoyable and unique.  I felt the “rare 5” eyes suited the outfit best, and I resisted my natural inclination to choose any eye with green in it, just to get me out of my comfort zone.  I adored the result!

I LOVE jewelry.  The “Celestial Necklace” by [tea.s] is certainly heavenly.  It is color change and has resize scripts so it is easy to get the perfect fit.  I have been a long time fan of GSpot, and when I got their item I expected a gown.  WRONG!  GSpot is offering some amazing jewelry for this round of the Carnival and you can expect to see more of those treasures in future posts!  In this post I chose to spotlight their stunning headpiece.  It is perfect for role play or making a striking fashion statement.

Be sure to visit the Fantasy Gacha Carnival in October, there are certainly some impressive treats to be found!

Style Kingdom Magazine Casting: Styling Challenge #1

Hello Readers!

I just had to squeeze in another post before my RL makes off with me again!  Thankfully I took the photos for this blog post last week so I can write about them now!

Style Kingdom Magazine is currently casting for a new model for its pages.  This casting is different than others I have encountered because they are looking for new/inexperienced models. I graduated from AVENUE Models Academy this past July, so I wasn’t certain I would qualify as the casting notice said modeling certificates were not required.  I was glad to learn that my shiny new certificate did not disqualify me. I just don’t have the time some do to attend academy after academy, and I felt AVENUE’s classes more than prepared me for the world of SL fashion.  So modeling certificate aside, my modeling resume is pretty short compared to many.  However, I am working it and trying to get myself out there and on the runway, so I am sure that won’t be the case for long!

One of the things I enjoyed about my AVENUE classes was the homework.  I thought this was mainly due to me being an educator and a nerd in RL who actually enjoys homework.  I realized as I spent hours painstakingly analyzing my styling and second guessing myself, that I enjoyed the creative process of styling challenges.  Second Life was just the medium I needed to express my own creativity.  I am no builder or designer – I am a writer, a role player and a model.  SL has helped me achieve things I never thought I would be able to in RL, become a published writer, an actress (via role play), and fulfill my childhood dream of being a model.

I apparently am also the queen of tangents!  So let’s get to the styling shall we?  The challenge was “Asian Invasion.”  I LOVED this theme!  I immediately got to searching and talking with my sister/stylist/confidant Liat.  In the end, this is what emerged:

Overall I was pleased with the result and it appeared the judges were as well!  You can read the public scoring here.  The second challenge was “Film Noir.”  This one proved to be a bit more of a challenge for me and I deliberated over it as I do with each of my stylings.  In the end I was pleased with it as well and will be blogging it soon!

Kastle Rock Couture

Hello again readers!

Today I would like to share with you the styling I put together as an entry into the Kastle Rock Model Casting. I am sure I must have mentioned at some point that I love the funky?  No?  Well I do.  I love funky…the GOOD kind. *grins*  So when I was shopping Kastle Rock I came across this jumpsuit and I HAD to have it.  So here I am in the fabulously fierce and funky jumpsuit, on the new role play sim of Wendigo Lake that I learned about from a blog I enjoy reading called Cait’s World.  I know I have mentioned that role play is a passion of mine.  On this shoot I reconnected with Jon Vetrinari (effluvium) and became involved with his role play beta, along with my sister Liat, who I met in role play years ago.  Needless to say it was a lovely shoot…my sis taking the photos, talking to Jon about what he had in mind for Wendigo Lake, then signing up for his beta.  Liat and I (on one of my role play alts) role play there regularly.  Though, Liat is there much more than I am at the moment as I catch up on my blogging and write my articles for AVENUE.

So that was a HUGE tangent!  Back to Kastle Rock!  Here is my contest entry with the details of it immediately following.

Liat snapped many wonderful photos and I had to share them with you as well. As I had previously written, Maxi Gossamer is a personal favorite of mine, so it is no surprise I would use more of her jewelry in this styling.  I love the way her jewelry photographs.  The quality and versatility of her designs keeps me coming back for more!

The poses used in these photos are Slouch.  I just love Eira’s work!  The poses were from her most resent sets that she created for The 24. (Sets 25, 26, and 27.)

In the shot below you can see a bit of the nail polish I am wearing.  It is {MUA}’s Pois Colors Slink Nail applier.  I really enjoy the vibrant colors of Shanty’s work, and the detail on this polish goes beautifully with the Kastle Rock Chica Jumpsuit.

A special thanks to my sis Liat, for all her support on my fashion adventures as well as for her photography skills!  The Kastle Rock contest is officially closed now and I await the result with fingers crossed!

New from Marshmallows

Hello Reader!

RL can be a pesky thing sometimes.  I swear it is like my RL knows I really want to blog, then says “NO!” *chuckles* I am here now though, so let me share with you the latest from Romy Dash.  I cannot say enough how much I love the brilliant bold creations of Marshmallows.  They speak to my own personal fashion statement…something I call ‘Barrio Chic.’ For the non-Spanish speaking readers, barrio is Spanish for neighborhood, but it is a bit more than that really.  The barrio is home and family with a decidedly Latin flair.   For me the barrio conjures images of loud music and dancing, delicious aromas, and bold, sexy style.  Romy’s designs are certainly barrio chic to me, and her latest release is no exception.
